Description

Back in the day, the concept of opening new businesses in Kuwait was not very encouraging due to the political instability and lack of diversification. Any new business would mean in true definition, “a risk”.
In the year 1973, a Kuwaiti man and his friend from Jordan, collaborated together to work on a joint venture targeting one very rich attribute of the Arab heritage, that is, coffee.

Coffee, as we know, has its origins from Yemen in the 15th century approximately, after which it spread out to other Arab countries in the Middle Eastern region, before spreading in Europe and so forth. Along the years traditional coffee had lost its originality in the Middle East, and a lot of new substitutes had taken its place.
This inspired the establishment of “Al Ameed Coffee” or more popularly known as “Bun Al Ameed” in order to preserve the true taste of traditional coffee.

The first shop opened in 1973, was very small with one coffee roaster and 3 coffee grinders, all of which had a capacity of only 10 kilos of production per day. Soon in 1975, in order to increase our capacity, we moved to another location, which also happens to be our main branch today, in Hawally.

In the initial days, our business suffered due to the idea of being specialized in one type of coffee. Marketing and advertisement was almost inexistent as well. We had to go door to door distributing samples of our coffee in order to make our presence felt.

It was not too later when competition increased in the market that challenged our business, however, our belief of being a specialized coffee mill focusing on rich quality kept us at surface.

Along the years we faced political instability like all other businesses; however, with the help of our dedicated team we managed to stay on surface.

It took us long working hours and utmost dedication to reach where we stand today. Going back in time, we are only proud that our hard work has shined.
It was not too later when we received many suggestions on moving out of Hawally and expanding our reach. Therefore, in the year 1996 we opened our next branch in Salmiyah and the journey of meeting the whole of Kuwait started there on.

With higher demands, we needed to expand further to reach out geographically, and hence we thought of introducing the idea of having a station in the supermarkets where we grind coffee fresh for the customers upon request. This idea gave us more customer loyalty as they know they were buying nothing but the freshest coffee.

Baring in mind that expansion is the essence of growth, our first step outside the borders of Kuwait was taken in the year 2004, when we opened an overseas branch in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
