Dupont’s craftsmen are among the few to have mastered the art of lacquer, a difficult organic material, by rediscovering and perfecting ancient Japanese and Chinese techniques. It is resistant to shocks, scratches and fire.All S.T. Dupont accessories in Chinese lacquer are engraved with a lacquer leaf .In 1872, Simon Tissot Dupont created a luggage and leather-goods workshop, which then began to produce a steady stream of exceptional products for the highest social circles.Emperor Napoleon III and Empress Eugénie were among his first customers, quickly followed by the European elite.
