Composing And Arranging For Arabic Fusion Music

In this two-part workshop, Aliya Cycon will help students develop the tools for finding and developing their own voice in composing, and how to apply arranging concepts to turn their ideas into full pieces. Aliya will use her work on the American/Arabic fusion song "Before He Falls," which recently went viral on social media, as a roadmap for fusing Eastern and Western styles. Students will learn how to write for percussion, string and wind instruments as they workshop their own melodic ideas and will leave the workshop having made progress in their own personal compositions!
