Directing For Cinema

A short and sweet workshop dedicated to helping attendees understand a vital if often overlooked aspect of filmmaking: Where to place your camera and how that can heighten or take away from a scene. The workshop will focus on the art of cinematic storytelling, rather than the technical knowhow of operating cinema cameras or the like.
We will first go through some examples from cinemas by dissecting specific scenes in popular films and finding out the hidden secrets behind what makes those scenes so strong. After that, attendees will be asked to create a storyboard / shot list for a short script we’ll provide (or an idea they already have if they prefer) followed by a short group critique.
This workshop is for cinema lovers, film students, filmmakers who are in the beginning of their careers or anyone interested in that field. No previous technical knowledge is required.
