Korean Cuisine Contest

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the State of Kuwait, in cooperation with the Korean Kuwaiti Cultural Diwaniya (Han-Kut Diwaniya), will organize the first “Korean Cuisine Contest” in Kuwait.

It is part of the various cultural events organised by the Embassy throughout the current year to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the Republic of Korea and the State of Kuwait.

The theme for the contest is “Fusion Korean Cuisine in Your Way”. The winning team will receive round tickets to Korea and vouchers at famous Korean traditional restaurant in Seoul.

It will take place on Thursday, September, 19, 2019, from 4:00 to 7:00PM, at the Food Academy in Saveco in Al-Rai area.

This is a two-person team competition with a requirement that at least one member must be a “Kuwaiti national.” Up to 10 teams will be accepted to compete for the finals. The finalist teams will be selected on the basis of their submitted recipes and photos.

The panel of the judges will taste their food and select winning team. Interested teams are requested to fill the application form and to insert photos of their cooked dishes on it. Then, send the completed application form to korculture.kuwait@gmail.com by September 10, 2019.
Selected contestants will be notified via email or telephone (as provided by the contestant in his/her application form) and invited to a participate in a preliminary meeting on September 19, 2019.

Contest stages:

Stage 1 – Theme (1) Korean Cuisine
The selected 10 teams will cook any Korean cuisine they like (ex. Bulgogi, Bibimbab, Tteokbokki).

Stage 2 – Theme (2) International Cuisine in collaboration with Korean ingredients
The selected 10 teams will cook an international cuisine using Korean ingredients (ex. Kimchi Pasta, Curry Bibimbab, Bulgogi Majboos, Gochujang Shawarma..etc.).
