The Art Of Aswat

The Arabic word for voices, Aswat is a form of traditional musical performance started in mid-19th century by Abdulla Alfaraj. Since then the art of Aswat was performed in different ways of singing and composition in Kuwait and the Arabian Gulf states. In this performance, we are presenting major schools of this art, combining the traditional style with the contemporary vision, accompanied by Jaber Alahmad Orchestra. Famous traditional singers Salman Alammari, Yousef Aljadda, Khaled Alaujairi, and Yousef Alyaseen will be performing, with a group of dancers presenting the signature “Zafna” and “Mirwas” dance, and the clapping technique “Sharbeka”.
