Kuwait Hiring Nurses From Indian

The government of Kuwait has agreed to recruit nurses through the e-migrate system of the government of India through the state-owned agencies to put to rest uncertainty over the issue that has been hanging ever since Indian banned overseas recruitment of nurses by private agencies on April 30, 2015.

A decision to this effect was taken during a high level meeting recently in Kerala between representatives of the Kerala government and the Kuwait Ministry of Health officials.

The visiting delegation from Kuwait’s Ministry of Health held discussions with the Chief Minister of Kerala Oommen Chandy, Minister for Non-Resident Affairs of Keralites K.C. Joseph and other officials.

The Kuwait delegation was led by Assistant Undersecretary oat the Health Ministry Jamal Al-Habri and another senior official for legal affairs Mohammad Al-Balkalabi.

According to Indian sources, officials of the Kuwaiti Health Ministry will directly conduct the licensing test and interview to select the candidates.

It has also been reported that the Kuwait contracting companies which recruit nursed for private hospitals and clinics will be advised that they should register to the e-migrate system and the Ministry of Health in Kuwait is expected to take the initiative to convene a meeting of State-Owned agencies and contracting companies to explain the modalities of the E-system.

The recruitment process to hire nurses through the government-owned agencies for Kuwait’s health department is expected to be initiated immediately.

The Kuwait decision to utilize the service of state-owned agencies in India will come as a great relief for the candidates who were otherwise fleeced by the agencies.

The Narendra Modi government at the center had taken a decision about a year ago to regulate the recruitment agencies and also directed that all recruitment must happen through government agencies.

Indian Ambassador to Kuwait H.E. Sunil Jain has played a central role in implementing the Government of India decisions.

Kuwait’s Ministry of Health and the Indian Embassy in October 2015 had signed an agreement finalizing the modalities for recruitment of nurses from India and paving the way for hiring nurses only through three government agencies – Norka Roots, the field agency of the Non-Resident Keralites Affairs Department, Overseas Development and Employment Promotion Consultants (ODEPC) under labor department of the state government and the Overseas Manpower Corporation run by the Tamil Nadu government.
