Moh Said Surgeons'conference Efforts To Upgrade The Health Sector
A senior official of the Ministry of Health said Sunday the 15th surgeons' conference falls in the framework of the country's efforts to upgrade the health sector and keep abreast with latest medical achievements.

The two-day event will help Kuwait's doctors, especially the newly-graduated, to benefit from the experience with veteran doctors participating in the gathering, said Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry for Legal Affairs Dr. Mahmoud Al-Abdelhadi.

He made the comments in an inaugural speech to the event on behalf of Minister of Health Dr. Jamal Al-Harbi.
The conference, being hosted by Kuwait Institute for Medical Specializations (KIMS), gathered world-renowned surgeons from 22 countries.

"The conferees will debate, inter alia, general surgery, and bariatric surgery, colon and digestive system surgeries," Dr. Al-Abdelhadi said, noting that the agenda also includes eight surgical workshops to be conducted at Mubarak Hospital.

"The workshops will showcase the latest advances in the surgery relating to overweight, including the gastric bypass surgery, and colon and inguinal hernia repair surgeries," he added.

On his part, Prof. Moussa Khorshed, the chair of the conference, said the discussions of the first day focused on the new solutions relating to the bariatric surgery and the treatment of the complications of gastric sleeve surgery.

"Tomorrow the conferees discuss the problems relating to colon and rectum repair surgeries as well as the alternatives to surgeries for diabetic patients," Prof. Khorshed said in statements to KUNA.

"The agenda features 59 lectures and eight workshops on gastric sleeve surgeries. For the first time in the Arab region, a gastric sleeve surgery starting from mouth will be conducted during the conference.
Besides Kuwait, the participants are from 22 countries, including the United States, Italy, Belgium, Holland, Austria, Brazil, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE and Oman.
