14 Million Passengers Travelled Through Kuwait Airport This Year

Up to 14 million passengers have travelled through Kuwait International Airport since January, a top aviation official said.

“Kuwait has attracted hundreds of air companies since of air companies since it adopted the open-sky policies in 2005”, said Civil Aviation acting director for operations Mohammed Al-Thuwaini.

He made the statement to Alqabas newspaper marking the International Civil Aviation Day, which falls on the 7th of December.

He underlined efforts to enhance the security standards at the airport, based on cutting edge technologies and modern digital systems in compliance with international civil aviation safety criteria.

He announced strategic plans to expand the capacity of the airport and bolster its competitive edge.

He urged a law on transforming the General Directorate of Civil Aviation into a full-fledged authority to keep pace with international strides.

The airport set a new record with 668 departing flights and 646 arrivals in two days during the Eid Al-Adha holidays.
