25 Lawmakers Support Social Allowance Hike For Ku Students
President of the National Union of Kuwaiti Students (NUKS)-Kuwait University Chapter Saud Al-Kanderi disclosed that the union has been making moves to ensure increase in the social allowance for students through a documented campaign in coordination with some lawmakers, reports Al-Anba daily. Al-Kanderi made the revelation recently in a press chat with the daily in the presence of the union’s spokesperson Salman Al-Osaimi.
He declared that the campaign considers inclusion of Bedouns among the beneficiary students. He said 25 lawmakers signed the document but the bill has yet to materialize, reiterating the students of Kuwait University are in dire need of social allowance increment.
He pointed out the union followed up movement of six colleges to the new site in Sabah Al-Salem City (Shadadiya) from the beginning and visited the location several times to be in tune with the latest developments and readiness of the buildings which will accommodate students, saying the union presented suggestions to the university administration in this regard.
He affirmed the union has many achievements such as organizing the ‘Future Kuwait’ conference which is unprecedented in history.
The achievements include a campaign to solve academic problems of students, official request to overcome difficulties of students and series of educational seminars, he added.
Ban
Meanwhile, the government has denied what has been rumored that it has issued a ban on the registration of Kuwaiti graduates in some specialties under the central government employment system, reports Al-Anba daily.
The sources said that registration is open to all who want to work in ministries, government institutions or agencies according to the regulations in force.
The same sources pointed out that the decision which regulated the process of recruitment of Kuwaitis centrally in these bodies has put some controls on all without any discrimination, favoritism or interference.
In response to a question on banning that registration of Kuwaitis who have obtained only secondary school certificate, the sources said the registration is now open for employment for married high school graduates without any conditions due to their responsibilities.
As for singles, the sources said the door is also open provided they must have passed one of the approved training courses in coordination between the Civil Service Commission and the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training.
However, the condition stipulated in the decision applies to singles who have a high schoocertificate and have not passed any training course, and who are under the age of 25 years. The government apparatus, therefore, grants employment opportunities for non-trainees is for the married because of the circumstances of his responsibility for his family and not for single.
