47 Cases Of Forged Science Degrees Were Discovered Until 2018-moe

Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Hamed Al-Azmi was recently quoted as saying 47 cases of forged science degrees were discovered until date in 2018, including 44 from the Egyptian Universities which works out to 94 percent of all forged certificates, one issued by a Russian university and one each from the United Kingdom and US universities, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Al-Azmi gave statement in his response to an inquiry submitted by MP Khalil Abul. He disclosed most fake degrees were issued by the Al-Mansoura University (25 certificates) Bachelor and Master Degrees. Of these, 12 were Law specializations, 4 in commerce, three in the physiological health and one each in accounting, nursing sciences, letters and psychology science.

The statistic showed the certificates were issued between 2009 and 2016. It included 8 cases of fake certificate from the Cairo University (five to the law), one PhD in the press and media and two public relations.

The statistic also showed five cases of fake certificates in laws specialization were issued by the Tanta University between 2015 and 2017, while the ministry recorded two cases of forgery from the Al-Azhar University (two certificates of Master and Bachelor degrees in Sharia and Law, in addition to two from the Higher Institute for the Developed Studies. Concerning the foreign universities, the ministry pointed out one certificate in Business Administration was issued in 2016 by an American university and one in Dermatology Specialization from the Friendship University in Russia and they third by a university in London (Commerce specialization.)
