484 Filipino Children Born From Illegal Relationships Or Rapes Flown To Philippines

17 January 2019 Kuwait

Four hundred and eighty-four Filipino children born abroad as a result of illegal relationships or rapes have been deported to the Philippines, reports Al- Rai newspaper.

This has been confirmed by the concerned authorities while an official source at the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait said the children were born either with consent of both ‘parents’ or a result of rape.

A reliable source said the children were deported between January and December 2018 in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior of Kuwait. Glenda Relova, Assistant Secretary and Spokesperson for Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), said the children were provided all assistance during their stay at the embassy shelters until they were repatriated to the Philippines.

“The Ministry of Welfare is helping to bring the Filipinos back to their country in cooperation with the attaches, especially from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia (Jeddah, Riyadh), the UAE and Qatar, and providing psychosocial counseling to individuals and groups,” said Relova.
