5 Indians Seek Embassy Help To Return To Their Country
According to a news report five Indians, believed to be violators of residence law, have sought the help of their embassy in Kuwait to help them return to the country because according to them their sponsor refuses to legalize their status and is also refusing to hand over to them their passports.
The Indian Times of India, quoting the Indian Embassy in Kuwait, said four of the workers who have filed the applications for return home had entered Kuwait a few years ago through what the daily called ‘crooked ways in contravention of the residence law’, while the residence permit of the fifth has expired in mid-2017.
The report quoting the second secretary of the embassy said ‘the embassy tried to communicate with the sponsor of the five workers to return their passports or to adjust their residence status, but there has been no response or cooperation’.
However, when contacted, a senior Indian embassy official denied knowledge of such a report. According to the same official there are hundreds of Indians who seek the embassy help to go back home and that the embassy is doing its best at all times to help those in difficult situations, without violating the law of the land.
The official added, it is surprising the report makes a mention of five people while there are hundreds who are caught in the web – some with expired residence permits and others who have disputes with their employers.
The official also denied knowledge of the five men filing any official complaint with the embassy accusing their sponsors of not cooperating with them.
The report said, the five have “also appealed to the embassy officials to seek their deportation in accordance with the procedures in this regard” so that they could return home.
It has also been reported the deportation procedures have already begun in coordination with the relevant Kuwaiti authorities and that the five violators are expected to be deported once these procedures are completed, which the embassy official said he is not aware of.
