7 Year Jail And Fine For 3 In Forged Nationality Case

16 October 2018 Crime News

The Criminal Court presided over by Judge Mohammad Ghazi Al-Mutairi sentenced three individuals to seven-year imprisonment, imposed a fine that is double the salary they received through forgery, and ordered them to return the houses which they received from the government. The court dismissed the charges leveled against another defendant in the same case, and also refrained from issuing its verdict on another. According to the case file, the Public Prosecution charged the five defendants with falsification of official documents which led them to acquiring citizenship fraudulently, and then the privileges and services rendered to citizens.

‘I am the judge’: The Public Prosecution has summoned a number of environmental police officers and eyewitnesses to look into the issue of impersonation when a person claimed to be the judge at the Court of Appeals, reports Al-Rai daily. This happened when the environmental police spotted the man lighting a cigarette inside a shopping mall and when he was confronted and issued a citation, the man objected saying he enjoys immunity from persecution and said he is a sitting judge at the Court of Appeals. However, when this claim turned to be untrue, a citation was issued against him and the law was applied. The case has now been referred to the Farwaniya Public Prosecution to complete investigations and taking legal action.
