Age Of Retirement For Both Kuwaiti And Expat Doctors Is 75 Years Old
Minister of Health Dr Bassel Al-Sabah disclosed that his ministry will soon start receiving the completed expansion and maintenance works at Amiri Hospital as part of the second stage of the KM2 maintenance contract, affirming the building will be handed over soon, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to the minister, the number of internal medicine doctors at the hospital reached 133 – 113 expatriates and 20 citizens. He added the cost of the two year maintenance contract is KD 302,000 covering all works except the medical equipment and laboratories that cost KD 1,950,000.
He explained the contract includes an optional offer of three years maintenance at a total cost of about KD 3,252,000 which will be activated whenever the ministry deems necessary.
In response to the question of MP Abdulkareem Al-Kandari, Al-Sabah stressed all the floors included in the expansion works at the hospital are fully operation except the 11th floor which consists of the Internal Diseases Department for men and women.
Also in response to the query of MP Khalil Abul on the number of expatriate doctors, the minister revealed there are 113 doctors in the hospital including one who turned 65 years old and has vast experience in the field. He pointed out that according to the Doctors Law, the age of retirement for both Kuwaiti and expatriate doctors is 75 years old.
