All Doctors To Work In Casualty Department Of Hospitals
Doctors in public hospitals will now perform their normal and on-call duties at the Casualty Department, in order to deal with the increased number of patients arriving in the department with symptoms of the novel coronavirus, or from suspected infections, says a new circular from the Ministry of Health.
Announcing the new directive, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health Dr. Mustafa Redha said that these administrative measures were taken to regulate and increase efficiency of processes and to speed up the determination of whether a patient suspected of infection needed to be given the specialized PCR test, and to immediately take necessary preventive measures.
The undersecretary expressed his hope that concerned staff will adhere to the new rule and strictly implement the circular to avoid legal accountability.
In addition, Undersecretary Dr. Redha issued another circular on infection prevention guidelines with regard to cleaning and environmental disinfection procedures to be followed at health facilities in the wake of the novel coronavirus infection.
“Based on the ministry’s keenness to implement plans and strategies to combat the emerging coronavirus (COVID-19) and limit its spread, as well as to protect health workers and community members from the risks of being infected, new cleaning and environmental disinfection procedures, will be implemented in all government health facilities with immediate effect,” said the circular.
