All Repair Contracts In Mew Sound - Minister

29 December 2017 Kuwait

Minister of Oil, Electricity and Water Bakheet Shibeeb Al- Rasheedi has affirmed that all contracts for the maintenance of power stations are valid and there is no problem in the operation of these stations, particularly the production of energy, reports Al-Rai daily.

Speaking to the daily, Al-Rasheedi explained some contracts are up for renewal soon, indicating he was surprised when rumors spread that this affected the power stations’ reserves for emergency situations. He also confirmed revision of the maintenance plan, reiterating that maintenance works will not affect production and the reserves.

He said the maintenance projects are part of many contracts endorsed by the ministry and they will be renewed if the need arises. Meanwhile, the decision of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to amend the conditions and procedures for evaluating state employees has added a new criterion to the annual evaluation process.

;

This criterion will determine whether the concerned employee deserves excellent performance bonus and be promoted to supervisory positions, reports Al-Rai daily quoting informed sources from CSC.

They revealed that the new criterion allocates 30 evaluation points from the results of the fingerprint attendance system as the latter determines the commitment of the employee to the work timings. The sources explained that the evaluation process previously was completely in the hands of the employee’s immediate supervisor.

However, this led to many cases of injustice as the evaluation was often based on personal opinions. An excellent employee should obtain at least 90 points out of a total of 100 in order to be qualified for excellent performance bonus and promotion. Based on the new system, the immediate supervisor has the right to only allocate 70 points while the remaining 30 points will be obtained from the results of the fingerprint attendance system. In another development, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry issued three licenses to closed joint stock companies in November, reports Al-Rai daily.

The ministry said these companies operate in the fields of investment monitoring, tree nurseries and fire insurance. It also granted four licenses to branches of joint stock companies in the banking services field, communications systems and machines, as well as trading in equipment, supplies and medical tools. This is in addition to 13 licenses for branches of closed joint stock companies in the fields of administrative consultancy, commercial exhibitions, agricultural machines and materials, banking and financing services.
