An Arab Woman Fears Ex-husband May Disappear With Children

16 February 2016 Kuwait

The Personal Status Section in the Court of Appeals upheld the ruling of a lower court which barred an Australian man from traveling with his two children to Australia for tourism, as his exwife – an Arab woman – expressed her fear to the court that he might flee with the children and never return. Representing the ex-wife was Attorney Nuha Al-Rees, who argued that the plaintiff failed to present evidence or reassurance that he has no intention against his ex-wife, given that it is not his first time to seek the court’s permission to travel with the children to Australia, but at that time, he said it was for educational purposes. Al-Rees pointed out in court that the plaintiff wants to travel with the children and prevent her client from seeing them again.
