03 January 2016 Kuwait

1,500 people diagnosed with heart diseases annually in Kuwait while about 5,000 cases visit outpatient clinics, said Dr. Mousa Akbar, head of Cardiology Unit at Sabah Hospital. On the occasion of the awareness day on heart disease launched by the Ministry of Health at the Avenues mall, Akbar added on Saturday that blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, obesity and other factors lead to heart diseases. He expected that the number of cases suffering from heart diseases will increase by 2030, noting that the age of cases diagnosed with these diseases in Kuwait and GCC member states is ten years less than the ones in the European countries.
