Awqaf Secretariat Pays Kd230,000 School Fees Of Over 1,000 Students
Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Fahad Al-Shula announced on Wednesday that the General Secretariat of Awqaf has payed KD 230,000 (about USD 690,000) school fees to 1,000 students before the end of the last academic year.
Speaking to KUNA, Al-Shula said that the General Secretariat of Awqaf, and from its principle of responsibility towards society, decided to pay all fees for the needy students to alleviate the financial burden on their families. He pointed out that this step came to activate the Awqaf role in serving various segments of society that are deserving of this type of assistance, adding that this assistance comes in harmony with the financial and humanitarian aid provided by Kuwait and its people to those suffering inside and outside Kuwait.
He pointed out that this assistance included students of different grades in cooperation with Kuwait Red Crescent Society, Najat Charity Association and Kuwait International Charity and Development Association, which paid the amount allocated for this humanitarian project. He stressed that the General Secretariat of Awqaf stipulated that the three agencies implementing this project should coordinate with the central agency addressing the status of illegal residents in this regard. He praised Kuwait’s pioneering role in humanitarian work around the world.
