Bid To Ease Overcrowding Of Expats In Cells And Deportation Center During Ramadan

17 April 2019 Crime News

The Ministry of Interior intends to ease overcrowding of expatriates inside the cells in police stations and the Deportation Center before the holy month of Ramadan, enabling security units to launch intensive campaigns to track down those who violated the Residency Law in general and beggars in particular, reports Al-Anba daily quoting security sources.

Sources attributed the overcrowding in detention centers to the rising number of domestic helpers who were caught for running away from their sponsors. In an attempt to reduce the number of violators – estimated at 100,000 – launched campaigns to arrest them, most of whom are believed to be holding Article 20 visa.

A security source hopes to see the implementation of a vision or mechanism to end the problem of the presence of absconders in police stations to achieve the desire of their sponsors to cancel the absconding reports registered against them.
