Boland Threatens Court Action Against Bloggers
Kuwaiti presenter Halima Boland has said she will file a lawsuit against anyone who defames and/or spread rumors about her, reports Al-Seyassah daily. In a Twitter post upon return from Saudi Arabia, she reiterated her readiness to sue whoever issues malicious statements or spreads rumors about her in Kuwait or outside the country. She has promised to act through her legal representatives across the GCC countries.
Halima was enraged due to massive media criticism after she posted a video clip showing an expensive gift to given to her by a senior Saudi official. It was later found that people behind the rumor were some fraudsters who are arrested by the Saudi authorities and referred for prosecution. She thanked the Saudi police for being on a red alert and promptly arresting the suspects before her return to Kuwait.
The social media have been awash with issues related to her among those who urged the Saudi authorities to ban her from entering the country and others who claimed that she used the issue as a media stunt.
