Both Men, Women Opt Equally For Cosmetic Surgery
Kuwait has become the top Gulf country in terms of cosmetic surgery for both men and women”, affirms a pharmacist of Ministry of Health Dr Dhikrayaat Al-Shammari. In a press statement, she indicated that, “Cosmetic surgery for men include nose jobs, jawline aesthetics and removal of beard using laser, all of which are done locally”.
Dr Al-Shammari, who possesses a master’s degree in Pharmacology and Toxicology, said men are competing with women in cosmetic surgeries, but some of them opt to do them outside the country out of fear of social opinion about them. Meanwhile, dermatological consultant in As’ad Al-Hamad Center of Sabah Health Zone Dr Sarah Al-Muslim warned about dry skin, which is considered as the gate for many skin diseases. She explained that topping of the list of these skin diseases is eczema, hair fall, and pimples.
About 50 to 60 percent of clients visiting the center suffer from eczema and dry skin. Eczema and its various types is seen more during the winter season. Skin problems does not happen only during the teenage years, but are also seen after 30 years of age due to hormonal issues, medicines, malnourishment as well as wrong usage of cosmetic products. Dr Al-Muslim called upon Ministry of Health to introduce varied cosmetic devices in the public sector due to the medical and treatment needed for treating skin diseases, insisting that they are needed more for treatment purposes than for cosmetic reasons.
