Boycotters Decision To Participate In Upcoming Polls A Good One
State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah says the decision of those who boycotted the previous parliamentary elections to participate in the upcoming one is a positive and good one,He stressed the need to appreciate when someone changes his stance after realizing that it was wrong.
Sheikh Mohammad recalled a statement he issued years ago when he emphasized the need to respect the right of an individual to boycott the elections, as that right is guaranteed by the Kuwaiti Constitution. He insisted that he does not have the right to comment about whether the current stance is right or wrong.
Regarding the news circulating about the resignation of some ministers, he said, “According to the Kuwaiti Constitution, if any minister wants to participate as a candidate in the parliamentary elections, he must resign in advance”.
Sheikh Mohammad indicated that the reduction of the public budget by 20 percent will affect the execution of the projects included in the developmental plan, affirming that Ministry of Finance and State Ministry for Planning and Development Affairs are doing their best to save for financially supporting the projects included in the developmental plan
