26 July 2017 Crime News

The Misdemeanor Court acquitted two Jordanians of swindling a Kuwaiti man to the tune of KD 65,000 the value of partnership for importation of vehicles and heavy duty equipment from Jordan to sell in Kuwait. It then referred the case to the Civil Court.

According to the case file, the accused lured the plaintiff into a business venture with the intention of swindling him. They informed him about their plan to import vehicles and heavy duty equipment from Jordan to sell in Kuwait with high profit. They convinced him to pay customs duty for the consignments, so the plaintiff transferred the required amount into their bank account.

However, lawyer of one of the accused, Attorney Abdul-Rahman Al-Watri, countered the allegation against his client. He said there is no proof that his client planned to dupe the plaintiff.

He added the case is not under the jurisdiction of the Criminal Court because it is a civil case that should be handled by the Civil Court.
