Court Acquitted A Citizen

26 March 2018 Crime News

The Court of Appeals cancelled the decision of the First Instance Court, which had earlier refrained from imposing punishment on a citizen accused of beating and insulting two compatriots and their two sisters but ordered them to sign a pledge of good conduct for one year and pay KD 500 financial guarantee. This led to the acquittal of the accused. Attorney Essmat Al-Gharboutli represented the accused in court. Previously, the Public Prosecution charged the citizen with causing injuries and uttering expletives to two compatriots who are brothers and their two sisters. The plaintiffs submitted medical reports to substantiate their claims while investigations revealed that the accused insulted them in front of passersby. After announcing its decision not to impose punishment on the accused, the First Instance Court referred the civil part of the lawsuit to the relevant court. The accused then appealed the decision and the higher court acquitted him.
