Court Acquitted Kuwaiti Who Was Accused In Smuggling Hashish

14 July 2017 Crime News

The Court of Appeals revoked the verdict issued by the Court of First Instance which sentenced a Kuwaiti to ten-year imprisonment with hard labor over allegations of smuggling hashish through an “Aramex” shipment. The court instead acquitted him. According to the case file, an employee of Shuwaikh Customs Department, during investigations, received information about a suspicious air shipment coming from overseas and notified the customs investigations team. The latter verified the shipment which contained the illicit drugs. They checked with the company that delivered the consignment and learnt the identity of the individual who ordered the shipment. The defense counsel Lawyer Ena’am Haidar insisted on the invalidation of the investigations due to lack of seriousness, affirming that the investigations were dominated with doubts, and the evidences based on which the Prosecution claimed that her client perpetrated the crime was inconclusive
