Court Of Appeals Nullified The Verdict Issued By The Court Of First Instance

The Court of Appeals nullified the verdict issued by the Court of First Instance which sentenced a Kuwaiti inmate of Central Prison to three-year imprisonment with hard labor and imposed a fine of KD 3000. The court instead acquitted him of the charges of consuming heroin and smuggling it into the prison. Representing the citizen was Lawyer Mohammad Safar who casted doubt on the evidences provided by the prosecution. He stressed on the nullification of search conducted on his client and what followed after that. He said the prosecution did not present any substantial evidences and the investigation was conducted unprofessionally. Lawyer Safar also highlighted the rationality behind his client’s request to be transferred to another cell, a process which is seen now as irresponsible.
