The Court of Cassation dismissed the appeal of a victim of Imam Al-Sadeq Mosque bombing for financial compensation for damages he suffered during the incident. The court affirmed that the situation was disastrous and the government did not establish any neglect in this regard. According to the case file, the plaintiff said he sustained injuries on the shoulder as confirmed by a preliminary medical report. However, there were contradictions in the reports concerning his condition, prompting referral of his file to the Forensics Unit at the Criminal Evidence Department to determine if there was an error in the diagnosis and evaluation of his condition.

Cases in court : The Fatwa and Legislation Department, on behalf of governmental bodies, took over the proceedings of 30,448 cases from 2014 to 2017, reports Al-Qabas daily. Deputy Prime Minister and State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh said these cases are still in various courts. In response to the question of MP Riyad al- Adassani, Al-Saleh disclosed the number of lawsuits filed by the government in the Court of First Instance reached 1,528 while 19,590 cases were filed against the government in the same court. He added 2,428 of these cases were appealed by the government and 5,043 cases were appealed against the government. He said the government filed 122 cases in the Cassation Court while 331 cases were filed against it. He revealed the cases filed by government agencies in the Court of First Instance reached 16, 714 and 30,593 cases were filed against it in 2014; whereas 40,303 cases were filed against the government and 21,833 were filed by State institutions in 2016.
