Court Ordered Grandfather To Pay Monthly Expenses Of His Grandchild

Al-Ja’afari Family Section at the Court of First Instance ordered a grandfather to pay monthly expenses of his grandchild in place of the child’s father who migrated from the country twelve years ago. The judge ordered the grandfather to pay KD 70 per month for feeding and clothing of the grandchild from the date of judgment. Lawyer Mohammad Al-Qattan representing the plaintiff (mother of the child) based his argument on Article 200 of personal status law that stipulates the oldest relative should be responsible for the upkeep of his kin in such circumstances.
