Crackdown On Illegal Parking - 197 License Plates Removed
A total of 197 plate numbers were removed Sunday – the first day of implementing the decision to withdraw plate numbers of vehicles which obstruct traffic movement intentionally. In a press statement, the Public Relations and Security Media General Department in the Interior Ministry disclosed the traffic campaign conducted Sunday morning resulted in the removal of 50 plate numbers in Hawally Governorate, 38 in the Capital Governorate, 40 in Farwaniya Governorate, 20 in Jahra Governorate, 20 in Ahmadi Governorate and 29 in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate. The department affirmed that the campaign is in accordance with Article 42 of the Traffic Law which states, “The General Traffic Department is allowed to withdraw driving license or vehicle plate number or both as administrative withdrawal for a maximum period of four months.” The department then called on all road users to abide by the traffic regulations to avoid committing violations, such as “intentional obstruction of traffic movement.”
