431 Violations Concerning Theft Of Electric Power And Water Recorded During 2018

The head of the judicial police in the Ministry of Electricity and Water Adnan Dashti announced the issuance of 431 violations concerning theft of electric power and water during 2018, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Dashti told the daily during the first four months of this year, 73 violations were detected and 42 cases of theft have been proved. He pointed out the irregularities include theft of electricity and water and the direct connection of power supply to the homes and apartments without the knowledge of the ministry and tampering with the electricity meters.

Dashti added that the measures taken against the violators are to put a block on the violator who has to submit a request for a conciliation order to the ministry, through a committed to implement the provisions of Law 48 of 2005 headed by the Assistant Undersecretary of Electricity for the distribution of electrical networks and 6 members. In case of violation, such as theft, the violator is fined twice the amount or the violation is referred to the Investigation Department of in the Ministry of nterior, or to the Public Prosecution.
