The Civil Court has obliged a general trading company to pay KD 66,500 in compensation to a citizen for subsidized construction materials worth KD 25,000 the company took from the citizen. Attorney Mubarak Al-Khashab filed the lawsuit on behalf of the plaintiff, saying his client signed a contract with the company wherein the two parties agreed that the company should hand over a house on Nov 30, 2016. He added that his client gave KD 12,000 to the company based on the contract.

He requested an expert to be assigned for evaluation of the work executed by the company. He indicated the sum should be deducted from money paid by his client and demanded civil compensation worth KD 30,000. The expert estimated the value of work done by the company to be KD500. The court thereby ordered the company to pay a total of KD 66,500 to the plaintiff the value of subsidized construction materials (KD 25,000), down payment (KD 12,000) and civil compensation (KD 30,000) minus KD 500.
