Kuwait Customs Dogs Fail To Detect All Types Of Drugs

The customs officials have revealed there are attempts to investigate the ability of dogs to detect all types of explosives in light of the ongoing investigations into smuggling operations, noting the failure of dogs in the detection of drug shipments on more than one occasion, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources.

In this regards, the security authorities have asked for a statement on the types of dogs that are trained to sniff various types of drugs and narcotic pills and types of explosives.

An official source revealed that the customs authorities did not train dogs on the types of narcotic pills on the pretext of non-availability of such drugs at the customs, while training on the explosives; the materials are available from the Department of Explosives. The total number of dogs currently with the department is 110, of which 70 are trained and 40 are under training.
