Ministry Working Round The Clock To Protect People From Cheats
Assistant Undersecretary for the Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Sector at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Eid A-Rashidi said the sector, in the framework of its efforts to reassure the readiness of the cooperative societies, the central markets and shops during the month of Ramadan, held several meetings to ensure that the consumers were not cheated or deceived, reports Al-Anba daily Al-Rashidi told the daily the teams of inspectors are working round the clock in all the governorates including during weekends, Fridays and public holidays.
The ministry’s direct line also receives complaints from consumers around the clock, he noted. On the existence of irregularities during the current period, Al-Rashidi said: ‘Yes, without doubt, and therefore the ministry, is playing its role in running a check on shops and commercial companies.” On the plan of the ministry to reduce the artificial rise in prices, he explained that a multi- faceted plan had been drawn up.
He pointed out that the sector had started implementing it from the beginning of last March and includes the spread of inspectors of the ministry and emergency teams in various areas of Kuwait to monitor the markets. He said that this monitoring of course will benefit the inspectors in their knowledge of information on prices of goods and know if there were price increases to deal with them, especially for commodities that are popular during the holy month.
