Csrsir Will Provide Integrated Services To 85,000 Bedoun After Conducting Searches
The Central System for Remedying the Status of Illegal Residents (CSRSIR) or the so-called bedoun in Kuwait will provide integrated services to 85,000 bedoun after conducting searches, running checks and sorting out citizenship documents, reports Al-Qabas daily. In a recent statistical report, the CSRSIR noted that the numbers belonging to this category may ‘increase or decrease’, in light of the available documents and information affecting the legal status of this denomination of people, because of newborns, deaths or modifications.
However, the sources said, efforts to provide more humanitarian services and facilities for these people continue. The data showed that the State provided free education to 13,682 bedoun students during the 2018/2019 school year distributed as 11,670 primary, intermediate and secondary schools, 740 in kindergartens, 1,056 in adult education, 163 in religious education, and 53 in special education.
The source pointed out that Kuwait is keen to provide education for all who live on its territory through coordination between the CSRSIR and the Ministry of Education. This includes the registration of children and grandchildren of Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaiti men, children and grandchildren of the military men in addition to the children of employees of the Ministry of Education in public schools.
The CSRSIR pointed out that the State has established a charity fund for education, which covers the expenses of education at all levels from primary to secondary, and the number of beneficiaries during the academic year 2018/19 was about 15,448 students at a cost of about 5.5 million dinars, including tuition fees and the cost of books.
The source pointed out that the admission and registration of illegal residents in higher education at the University of Kuwait and the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) and the number of those enrolled in the University of Kuwait, was 1,265 for the academic year 2018/2019, and PAAET 588 students, and the number of enrolled in 12 private colleges and universities was 1,168. The number of students enrolled in post-university higher education was 141 bedoun students in 2018.
