Dar Al-athar Al-islamiyah Celebrated World Museum Day
Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyah (Islamic Museum of Antiquities) celebrated the World Museum Day for the fourth consecutive year in a cultural atmosphere with several activities. This is in collaboration with some Kuwaiti artists at the Kuwait Center for Islamic Arts. In a press statement, the museum disclosed that the slogan for this year’s event is, “Cultural Museum and Space”. It includes many art workshops held at Americana Cultural Center such as the cartoons workshop, in cooperation with Sami Mohammad Structural Arts Group. During the workshop, several educational works were presented by cartoonists Bader Bin Ghaith, Dhuha Al-Nasser and Mohammad Al-Qahtani while Spanish artiste George Ramirez performed a musical show and artistic display.
A drama entitled, “Al-Wushah Al-Sihry,” which was produced by Nassar Al-Nassar, was presented for children and Al-Ikhwan Al-Hassan Band performed in the musical night. Another major event was the collaborative work between calligrapher Jassem Al-Shammari and Kuwait Center for Islamic Arts wherein various types of Arabic calligraphy were presented. Another artist Wael Al-Saleh presented water painting for children, in addition to several other art works. The event also included other activities like the kite presentation by a Persian group – an interesting show for the children.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Director of Media Programs, Technique and Public Relations at the museum Abdul-Hamid Al-Balhan affirmed that the organizers of this year’s event extended invitations to diverse categories of artists for the occasion to be on par with global standards. He said Kuwait is committed to maintaining the legacy and heritage bequeathed by the forefathers and ancestors, such that the country serves as a shining light for artistic creativities in all perspectives. He indicated that Kuwait is proud to present the rich culture to a large crowd consisting of various age groups – elderly, youth and children.
