Dna Checks To Cover All Kuwaitis , Expats, Bedoun And People Arriving On Visit Visas
The DNA fingerprinting will cover all people living in Kuwait citizens, expatriates, bedoun and even people arriving in the country on visit visas, the government has imported the machinery needed for the process and it is no longer needed to send the samples abroad. The ministry pointed out the machines are in the custody of the General Department for Criminal Evidences and the fingerprint results will be a top secret and will be available only to the Public Prosecution and the judiciary if need be.
The ministry pointed out part of the DNA process is the sample of the saliva. The DNA will be carried out first on the Kuwaitis, the expatriates and the bedoun. Meanwhile, the Supreme Council for Planning is currently editing a study on reforming the demographic structure of Kuwait. Sources disclosed the study is a governmental project which will be referred to the Parliament for approval.
Sources explained this step was taken after the concerned legislative committee rejected the relevant draft presented earlier. Sources said the draft includes limiting the number of years for expatriates to work in Kuwait, except the citizens of other Gulf countries and the Europeans; as well as regulating the issuance of dependent and the other types of visas. Sources clarified the government will use the abovementioned study as basis for drafting a law on the population structure and this will be done once an agreement is reached with the Parliament on the articles of the law.
