Domestics Offered Excellent Services In The Celebration Of International Migrants Day
The Ministry of Interior participated in the celebration of International Migrants Day at the United Nations building in Mishref recently. Present at the event were acting Assistant Undersecretary for Reform Institutions and Sentences Enforcement Major General Majed Al-Majed, Director of the General Directorate of the Undersecretary Office Major General Mansour Al-Awadi, Director General of the General Directorate of Service Centers Major General Adeeb Al-Suwaidan, Director of the Domestic Directorate at the General Directorate of Residency Affairs Muhammad Hamad Al- Ajmi, representatives of official bodies and diplomats.
During the celebration, Al-Ajmi presented a detailed explanation about the services offered to domestic workers in Kuwait while pointing out the humanitarian treatment they receive. Al-Ajmi disclosed Kuwait issued laws that guarantee the rights of domestic workers and are aimed at improving their conditions.
He said these laws prevent the illegal recruitment of workers through unauthorized offices. He added one of the laws stipulate a model of labor contract and obligated all relevant offices to use it in order to protect the rights of workers, including specific work hours and prohibiting employers to assign dangerous jobs to their workers, in addition to preventing the recruitment of workers who are less than 21 years old or more than 60 years old.
