Driving License Cancelled Due To Change In Designation

29 December 2016 Driving License

I was working for an American company under the US Military and my work was related to Gen Admin of customs.

That time my work badly required the driver’s license and my company stamped my residence as driver due to unavailability of another position in their shoon (ministry) file.

I got my Kuwait driver’s license on June 13, 2013 and my visa was valid until July 20, 2014.

In 2014, on March 31, I have received a job offer from a shipping line and I moved to the new company on April 10, 2014.

When the authorities stamped my residency in May 2014, and it was valid until May 2015, my position was changed to Operation Supervisor. After a few days, I went to the Traffic Department to renew my license but the officials rejected my application due to the “position” change.

In May 2016, I got my residency and also a driver’s license which was valid until May 2017 … my current job title in the shoon file is driver. Now here is the new turn. I received a job offer from another company as transportation manager and they have offered me KD 600 as salary.

If I move to this new company, in May 2017, will I be able to renew my driver’s license?

Kindly provide me the precise information at the earliest. Your insight will be appreciated.

Name withheld

Answer: When you move to the new company, your designation on the work permit will be changed to transportation manager which means you automatically lose the license and will be allowed to reapply for the same only after two years.
