Editor Fined

Court of Appeals upheld the verdict issued by a lower court which ordered the Editor-in-Chief of Al-Shahed newspaper to pay a fine of KD 3,000 in a lawsuit filed against it by the Public Prosecution on behalf of Lawyer Hussein Al-Abdallah for publishing an article about the existence of a gang (cell) on Twitter website which is operating in favor of embassies in the country with the objective of harming the country’s security. The daily had published in its front and inside pages about the existence of a gang on the social media website ‘Twitter’, which is linked to foreign embassies in Kuwait, and that the main objective of this gang is to ruin the security of the country for which it would receive financial reward the fifth column.
