Fear Of Filipino Workers Carrying Infectious Diseases

04 January 2016 Kuwait

Subsequent to the verdict issued in the Philippines striping GAMCA system of accreditation to perform medical checkup for potential overseas workers, health sources have expressed fears on the infiltration of Filipino workers carrying infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS into the country, reports Al-Jarida daily.

Sources noted the verdict will be followed by revocation of the legitimacy of GAMCA in selecting and approving medical centers to conduct checkup for potential workers coming from the Philippines,

and the verdict is inclined to affect accuracy of the medical checkups for those planning to come here to work. Sources indicated the step will increase the load on medical centers in the Gulf countries, which will be held responsible for any disease detected.

They noted a meeting of concerned authorities will be held soon to discuss the repercussions of the verdict, and to set appropriate mechanisms to unite the stances of all GCC health ministries regarding the issue.
