Finance Denies Social Media Rumors About Platform For Trading In Bitcoin

The Ministry of Finance has denied rumors spread on Facebook about the establishment of a platform for trading Bitcoin in the country.

In a press statement, the ministry disclosed a fake statement was circulated in English claiming that Minister of Finance Dr Naif Al-Hajraf supports Bitcoin trading.

The ministry pointed out the fake statement is aimed at encouraging the public to open the link; thereby, exposing them to swindling. The ministry said it is currently coordinating with the Cyber Crimes Department at the Ministry of Interior to investigate the issue and arrest those responsible as such a crime tarnishes the reputation of Kuwait.

The ministry urged citizens to obtain information from official sources like KUNA and official social media accounts – @MOFKW.
