Four People Arrested For Attempt To Smuggle Huge Quantity Of Liquor

14 November 2018 Crime News

The General Directorate of Criminal Investigation in Kuwait has foiled an attempt to smuggle a massive quantity of liquor from a neighbouring GCC country, Al Qabas reported.

Officers inspected a large shipment at Al Showaikh seaport and seized thousands of bottles of liquor valued at KD1.5 million.

Four people, including a Kuwaiti national, confessed to attempting to smuggle the shipment and sell the liquor during Christmas and New Year festivities.

The suspects made the attempt to smuggle liquor, thinking that the security authorities would be busy over reports of unsettled weather.

Initial inquiry revealed that the son of a leading religious figure is involved in the smuggling operation, along with a senior officer at the General Directorate for Criminal Investigation.
