The government continues in its efforts to address the population imbalance and prosecute visa traders, reports Al-Rai daily.

Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Minister of State for Economic Affairs Hind Al-Sabeeh has revealed 250 verdicts have been issued by the judiciary against fictitious companies for trading in visas. They have been fined KD 2.13 million.

Al-Sabeeh in a press statement has stressed that officials of the Public Authority for Manpower, especially the personnel in the Labor Inspection Department have been exerting strenuous efforts to pursue fictitious companies which have flooded the market with marginal workers and are a major cause for imbalance in the country’s population.

She pointed out the owners of these companies are obliged to cancel the residence permit of ‘employees’ under their sponsorship. She added, in coordination with the Residence Affairs Investigation Department of the Ministry of Interior these workers will be blacklisted, arrested and deported.

Al-Sabeeh also explained 322 files of companies which were referred to the General Department of Investigation of the Interior Ministry during the first half of 2018 have been referred to the judiciary.
