Govt Committed To Maintain High Standards At Schools And Nurseries
Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Sa’ad Al-Kharraz embarked on a surprise visit of the headquarters of Public Authority for Disability Affairs in Hawalli area during which he inspected the facility and listened to the comments of officials, reports Al-Jarida daily.
In this context, Deputy Director- General for Education and Rehabilitation Services Sector Anwar Al-Ansari said “the visit included two halls serving as reception and visitors’ transaction area, in addition to the medical committees for granting disability certificates.
The minister also inspected the work mechanisms of the committees and listened to the comments of concerned offi- cials. “Following the visit, he met with Minister Al-Kharraz and explained to him the mechanism of operation by educational sector and services provided, which include followup and evaluation of the quality of educational services at the centers, schools and rehabilitation nurseries to ensure the development of appropriate curricula for people with special needs”, Al-Ansari explained .
He also shed light on the registration process of disabled students for academic year 2019/2020, which opened on January 1 and will continue until the end of July this year. He indicated, “This is how the parents will be able to register their wards for the first time in schools and educational institutions covered under umbrella of the authority”. He continued “after the application, a person with disability is presented to the case study committee for direction to educational institute, school, special classes or classes of integration appropriate to the person’s condition, based on his case, while a decision is taken within 10 days to accept or reject the case. He stressed “the educational sector is highly committed to ensure that schools, nurseries and rehabilitation institutions accredited by the commission to quality in the highest level.
For this reason, concerned authorities through the Committee for Visits and Interviews conduct surprise inspection visits to ensure compliance with the standards approved by the sector. This will be followed by monitoring violations and observations, and presenting them to the Committee for Monitoring and Follow-up of Schools, which also plays the expected role in this regard.”
