Humidity And Heat Will Dominate Coastal Areas During The Weekend
Humidity and heat will dominate coastal areas in Kuwait during the weekend, which in general will have light to moderate winds coming from the northwest, said a Kuwaiti meteorologist Thursday. Speaking to KUNA, meteorologist Ahmad Al-Qarawi indicated that the weather during Thursday would continue to be hot and humid throughout the day especially in coastal areas.
Northwestern winds will dominate the scene at speeds of 6 to 28 kms per hour (km/h), said Al-Qarawi, adding that the highest temperature will reach around 44 to 46 degrees Celsius. The state of the sea will be between 1 to 4 feet with light to moderate waves.
Thursday’s evening will continue the same weather trend with light to moderate northwestern winds at 6 to 26 km/h as temperatures reach 26 to 28 degrees Celsius. The state of the sea will witness light waves reaching 1 to 3 feet. During the daytime Friday, the weather will continue to be hot and humid with variable light to moderate winds at speeds of 8 to 30 km/h with temperatures soaring to 44 to 46 degrees Celsius. The state of the sea will witness waves of light to moderate status reaching 1 to 4 feet.
The evening on Friday will not fare any better as the weather continues to maintain its hotness and humidity with northwestern light to moderate winds at 6 to 28 km/h.
Temperatures will reach 27 to 29 degrees Celsius while the status of the sea will witness light to moderate waves at 1 to 4 feet. Saturday continues the trend of the previous two days, with temperatures reaching 44 to 46 degrees Celsius during the day and 26 to 28 degrees during the evening, said Al-Qarawi.
He added that the northwestern wind speed, during the day and evening, would reach between 6 to 26 km/h, a similar case with the sea as it reaches between 1 to 3 feet. The extremely humid weather that the country witnessed Wednesday led to the cancellation of the morning assembly in most schools, reports Al-Rai daily.
An educational source clarified there is nothing wrong if principals and directors of schools take this measure because they have full authority to do so according to weather conditions and a ministerial decision in this regard was issued earlier.
MP Askar Al-Enezi has sent a proposal to the National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al- Ghanim for building “fortress of greenery” around Saad Al- Abdullah City and planting trees along the main streets in order to reduce the negative effects of dust storms.
According to a press release, he also asked for establishment of public gardens in the city by the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR). MP Al-Enezi asked Al- Ghanim to forward the proposal for discussions by MPs in the Parliament.
