Indian Minister M J Akbar In Kuwait
Minister of State for External Affairs Shri M.J. Akbar reaches Kuwait to attend the third Meeting of India–Kuwait Joint Ministerial Commission for Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation. This is his first official visit to Kuwait at the invitation of the Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Mr. Anas Khaled Al-Saleh.
He addressed the Indian community at the Indian Embassy auditorium on Tuesday evening. Large number of Indian community attended the meeting. The India–Kuwait Joint Ministerial Commission meeting will be held on Wednesday, 20th at Kuwait.
Addressing the gathering, Minister M J Akbar said that India is leading the ‘third wave’ of economic growth in Asia. "Our country is going towards a new direction under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This revolution will not be completed unless each one of you is part of this," Minister said at the gathering. The government is working for the people of all strata. Number of projects under this new government is directed towards the common man. Schemes such as Jan Dhan Yojana, Mudra Yojana were a great success, Minister said.
Earlier Indian Ambassador to Kuwait Sri Sunil Jain welcomed the gathering. Minister M J Akbar will be meeting the Kuwaiti officials and will lead the Third Meeting of India–Kuwait Joint Ministerial Commission on Wednesday morning. India and Kuwait will deliberate on major issues of mutual interest during the meeting.
However, the Minister declined to comment on the issues faced by the Indian community during his speech at the Indian Embassy. The expected question and answer session with the community also did not happen during the event. Minister also avoided the questions from the people. Later, leaders of various community association expressed their concern over the callous attitude of the minister in discussing the community issues.
