Kuwait Extradition Of The Former Director General Of The Public Institution For Social Security

The Kuwait government insists on the extradition of the former director-general of the Public Institution for Social Security Fahd Al-Raja’an, especially since the British Supreme Court has issued a verdict in favor of his extradition, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting knowledgeable sources.

The same sources have indicated the willingness of the British government to adhere to the Kuwaiti request, but the British law gives the defendant the right to file a ‘grievance’ which is subjected to the approval of the British Home Secretary.

However according to some sources the ‘grievance has neither been accepted nor rejected until now. The sources added, a Kuwaiti delegation comprising members from Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the judiciary will leave for the UK to discuss the latest developments in the case and prepare final arrangements for the extradition of Al-Raja’an. The sources pointed out that the British authorities have been reassured that the man will stand trial in Kuwait.
