Kuwait Most Polygamous Gcc Country

Kuwait has topped the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) states as the most polygamous country.

According to a fresh report released in Doha, Qatar ranked second as the most polygamous GCC country, followed by Bahrain.

Themed “The State of Marriage in the Arab World”, the report was released on the sidelines of a seminar held in Doha “Arab families and Marriage ... Approaches and Policies”.

According to the report, the average number of Kuwaiti men who have more than one wife stood at 8.13 per cent during the period from 2010-2015.

The average rate reached 7.88pc in Qatar and 5.16pc in Bahrain. No details were released about polygamous marriages in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Oman.

According to the report, the rate of consanguineous marriage reached 34pc in Kuwait (1979-2010), Al Qabas reported.
